The firmware is the internal software of the a-pipes.
To know the current version, just connect it to the remote software.
To update the firmware, the instrument must be returned.

The mini a-pipes is the travel version of a-pipes.
Only 24.5cm length and a diameter of 22mm at bottom.
Position and holes diameter are those of the McCallum chanter, as is the diameter of the chanter.
A lower price too !

At the begining, the a-pipes would be made of an electronic board that fits into a regular bagpipes chanter.
Now, thanks to miniaturization techniques, a new single circuit can embedd every a-pipes features, including optional modules (radio, bluetooth).

The remote software now can redirect a-pipes or a-box played notes to one MIDI out port.
The MIDI out port can be a virtual port provided by a freeware like "loopMIDI", "MIDI yoke" or "LoopBee1". In such case any MIDI software, on the same computer, can listen to this port and play the sounds....
Since the end of December 2018, a new technology has been introduced: chanter's body is made of an hollow 3D printed plastic envelope in which armed resin is cast.
The plastic chanter becomes as rigid as a polypenco chanter, very solid and rather heavy.

A lot of pipers have tested the instrument.
Fred Morrison played the a-pipes in bagpipes mode, then in smallpipe mode ; his verdict : "super !"
Success !!! a brand new circuit has been designed then assembled, built for the new technologies. The result is amazing, even perfect. The device works in any condition, including deepest darkness. Battery draw has been optimized. Bluetooth is ok and can now be disabled.
